 What do the ACORNS do?  Some of our accomplishments for 2024 –

Together, park staff and ACORNS organized and led over 100 conservation education programs for a variety of audiences:

  • Total participants reached : 4,184
  • School programs : 2,634
  • Summer Rec programs : 429
  • Public programs : 1,121
  • Nature Center attendance : 2,036
****** ACORNS volunteered 2,744 hours as of November 2024 ******
 
Park Stewardship: ACORNS monitored and maintained bird nest boxes. Bluebirds – ten boxes monitored, seven tree swallows fledged, 12 house wrens fledged, 31 bluebird eggs, 17 certain fledged.  ACORNS also installed a brand new purple martin nest box.
238 runners and walkers participated in the Run for the ACORNS
$1,225 was raised by ACORN volunteers at the Air Show – this, like all other monies raised through ACORN activities will be reinvested in recreational and educational programs at the Genesee County Parks

ACORNS Board meetings are always open to the public and are held monthly (except December) on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 5:30. Meetings are held at the Park Nature Center. For January, February and March, there is an option to attend via ZOOM.
